Severity

Prev Next

The severity is shown in the ECO Report. The ECO rating is not affected by the severity.

Weight

  • FMS provides us with the average weight of axle 2.
  • For a weight of 3000 kg or less, we assume 0% weight or that the truck is empty => MinW = 3000 kg
  • For weights of 12500 kg or more, we assume 100% weight or maximum load => MaxW = 12500 kg

The higher the weight, the higher the severity (weight).

Road gradient

  • A truck that only drives uphill has a higher severity than a truck that only drives downhill.
  • A truck that drives up and down a lot has a higher severity than a truck that only drives on flat ground.

Average gradient in % = CurM
Elevation gain in meters = CurDiffUp
Elevation difference downwards in meters = CurDiffDown
Distance traveled in km = D
Weighting Up and Down = 1 : 1

ECO_Upward
Default setting:

  • 0.2% or less = 0% severity road gradient = MinM
  • 3% or more = 100% severity road gradient = MaxM

ECO_Downward
Default setting:

  • -0.4% or less = 0% severity height difference = MinH
  • 0.4% or more = 100% severity Height difference = MaxH

Calculation:
The difference in altitude is calculated in relation to the driving distance.

  • Height downwards only =

  • Elevation difference in relation to distance =

  • Up and down ratio =

  • Total =

Example:
CurM = 1%
CurDiffUp = 23145m
CurDiffDown = 23150m
D = 2431km

  • Height downwards only =

  • Elevation difference in relation to distance =

  • Up and down ratio =

  • Total =

Type of operation

A truck that drives in the city center and across country has a higher severity than a truck that only drives on the highway.

Average speed in km/h = CurV
25 km/h or less = 100% deployment difficulty Type of deployment (≈ city only) = MinV
80 km/h or more = 0% deployment difficulty Type of deployment (≈ highway only) = MaxV

Calculation:

Total

When considering the individual scores as a whole, the weighting is distributed in such a way that each individual score contributes equally to the overall grade. The weighting of the respective individual grades used to determine the overall grade can be adjusted.

Severity weight = 33
Severity road gradient = 39
Severity type of operation = 28
