About the rights system
There is a rights system for assigning user rights. This makes it easier to manage user permissions, as you can define standards and rights groups and therefore do not have to adjust the rights for each user individually.
To have access to user rights management, you must be an administrator or have the Manage users administration right.
Rights
Display | Right |
---|---|
The user has the right. | |
The user does not have this right. |
Levels
The rights system is divided into four levels:
Colour | Level |
---|---|
Purple | User level |
Yellow | Group level |
Blue | Company standard |
Grey | SPEDION standard (not changeable) |
Superordinate levels overwrite subordinate levels.
Example:
A right set at user level overwrites the same right at group level and in the company standard. If a right is not set at any level, the SPEDION standard always applies.
Lower and current level
In the Lower level column, you can see how the right is set if you do not make any changes in the Current level column.
If the field in the Lower level column is filled with grey colour, this right applies. No right has been defined at the current level.
If a field in the Current level column is green or red, this right takes effect and overwrites the right at the lower level.
It makes sense to only assign rights if the current level is different from the lower level.
User rights overview
In the Administration, move the mouse over the User icon and click on User Rights Overview.
Here you can see the individual users, which rights these users have and on what basis (= in which level) the respective right was set.
# | Description |
---|---|
1 | Right was set as company standard and not changed at higher levels. |
2 | Right was set as SPEDION standard and not changed at higher levels. |
3 | Right was set at user level. |
4 | Right was set at group level and not changed at user level. |
You can edit a user by clicking on their line.
You can find more information on this under User level
Company standard
Firstly, you should define your Company standard if it differs from the SPEDION standard.
You can set the rights for the company standard in the Current level column.
- Click on the Cross or the Check in the corresponding line.
Reset company standard
Click on the trash can icon to reset the right to the lower level (in this case to the SPEDION standard).
Group level (user groups)
Create groups for users who should have the same rights settings:
- Move the mouse over User icon in the menu bar and click on User groups.
- Optional, if you want to create a new group:
- Enter a name for the group in the Group name field.
- Click on Add new group.
- Enter a name for the group in the Group name field.
- Click on Edit in the line of the desired group.
- Optional, if you want to edit the users of a new or existing group:
- Add users to the group in the Data tab.
- Click on Save.
- Click on the Rights tab.
- In the Current level column, click on the Cross or Check if the rights should differ from the Lower level column.
User level
It is recommended to assign rights at user level as rarely as possible. In some cases, however, this is necessary.
Example: Only individual users should be authorised to use the SPEDION Portal App.
- Click on Users in the menu bar.
- Click on Edit in the line of the desired user.
- Click on the Rights tab.
- In the Current level column, click on the Cross or Check if the rights should differ from the Lower level column.
