Connect dashcam

Hardwire kit

Hardwiring the dashcam to the vehicle’s fuse box is one of the most common methods of installing the dashcam to provide it with power.
To make the most of the dashcam’s features, such as standby mode, it must be connected to a constant power source.

Power supply

The cables require a constant 12- or 24-volt power supply.

The hardwire kit contains two cables and a dashcam connector:

  • a black ground cable
  • a red cable for connecting the dashcam to the power supply
  • a cable with a barrel plug for connecting to the dashcam

Cabling

Qualified technicians

This installation should only be carried out by qualified technicians. Working on your vehicle’s electrical system can be dangerous. Please consult a qualified technician.

  1. Connect the red hardwire cable to the constant power supply.
  2. Connect the negative terminals to each other.
Recommendation

A loose connection can cause problems with your dashcam’s power supply. We recommend earthing the cable to an unpainted, bare metal screw.

  1. Connect the power cable to the dashcam with the cable facing upwards.

Once you have hard-wired the power supply, the dashcam will start automatically as soon as the vehicle moves.

  1. Start your vehicle to test the dashcam.
  2. Once you have tested your dashcam, run the power cable along the vehicle’s headliner from the A-pillar to the power source.
Position of the dashcam and cable

Make sure that neither the cable nor the way you have fitted the dashcam can interfere with the normal operation of the airbags and the pedals.
