Required configuration

Configuration by SPEDION

Before installing the SPEDION Trailer ID Tag in conjunction with the TruckBox E, SPEDION must perform the necessary configuration.

Please contact the SPEDION project team at projektteam@spedion.de so that the appropriate configuration can be set up for you.

Notes on commissioning

Equipping an entire fleet

When installing the Trailer ID Tag in an existing fleet, please note that data is exchanged at the fifth wheel coupling via a standard connection pin. This ensures that the Trailer ID Tag functions across different trailers and tractors.

Wiring in trailers and tractor units

Please note that SPEDION cannot provide wiring diagrams for trailers or tractor units. This information would vary depending on the equipment and area of application. In this case, please contact your manufacturer.

Functionality

The functionality of the Trailer ID Tag is explained below:

  1. The Trailer ID Tag transmits its serial number at fixed intervals.
  2. When the trailer is coupled, this serial number is transmitted to the tractor unit via a cable connection.
  3. The SPEDION TruckBox E picks up this serial number in the tractor unit and transmits it to the SPEDION app.
  4. The SPEDION app recognizes the serial number and the associated trailer, thus virtually coupling the trailer to the tractor unit.

Installation

Trailer

The trailer ID tag is installed in the trailer. It has three cable connections:

  • Black = Ground (31)
  • Red = +12/24V (30/15)
  • Purple = Data cable for transmitting the trailer ID
  1. Connect the purple cable to the tractor via the trailer socket.
  2. Connect the black cable to ground.
  3. Connect the red cable to continuous positive.

Tractor unit

In the tractor unit, connect the trailer ID signal from the trailer socket to the blue-white cable of the SPEDION TruckBox E cable set..
